1 The Political Guidance of the Communist Party of China over Youth for 75 Years since the Founding of New China: Main Course and its Experience Enlightenment Hot!
XU Xiao-ning, HE Yu-fang
Strengthening the political guidance over youth is an inevitable requirement for fostering socialist builders and successors, and is also a primary task to inspire the youth to shoulder the mission of national rejuvenation as a new generation of young people in the new era. Over the course of the past 75 years since the founding of New China, the political guidance over youth of the CPC has gone through three stages of development: the period of socialist revolution and reconstruction, reform and opening up and the new period of socialist modernization, and a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The CPC has accumulated rich experience in its political guidance over youth for over 70 years, that is, adhering to the CPC’s leadership of the political guidance over youth, starting from the perspective of youth characteristics by respecting the laws of youth growth and giving full play to the role of youth organizations led by the Communist Youth League of China. In the new era, in strengthening political guidance over youth and cultivating new generations in the new era, we should attach importance to the youth and guide the youth from the strategic height; we should respect the dominant position of youth and give play to the role of young people as a fresh force; we should cultivate the spirit of struggle in youth and encourage young people to persist in struggle and pursue their goals relentlessly; we should give play to the leading role of the Communist Youth League of China to better unite, organize and mobilize young people.

10 On the Construction of a Beautiful and Harmonious Countryside that is Desirable to Live and Work in from the Perspective of Historical Materialism Hot!
ZHANG Yong
The construction of a beautiful and harmonious countryside that is desirable to live and work in is a major policy innovation of the CPC Central Committee in the field of agriculture, rural areas and farmers. It is a significant measure for the comprehensive implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, as well as a manifestation of the development process of agricultural and rural modernization, aiming to achieve a coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization in rural society. Viewing from the perspective of historical materialism, the construction of a beautiful and harmonious countryside that is desirable to live and work in primarily encompasses three levels of meaning: its value orientation is to satisfy the human needs for survival, enjoyment and development; the shared vision is to construct interdependent social relations from the dimensions of subjectivity, sociality and development of human life; and the practical orientation is to create a rural governance community in the process of unifying personal principles with social principles and personal values with social values, thereby achieving shared development.

17 The Origin, Evolution and Characteristics of the Concept of “Digital Labor”: A Perspective of Marxist Political Economics Hot!
LI Xia-jie
Digital labor is a form of labor closely associated with digital economy. To promote the orderly development of digital economy, it is essential to have a correct understanding of the concept of “digital labor”. Based on the theoretical resources of Marxist political economics, Italian Autonomia constructs the Immaterial Labor theory which provides an important prerequisite foundation for the birth of the concept of “digital labor”. Compared with “immaterial labor”, “digital labor” focuses more on digital information production activities through the Internet platform. Through the overall review of the concept and evolution stages of “digital labor”, this paper provides a clear presentation of its characteristics, including the wide composition of labor subjects, the virtual-reality linkage of labor process elements, and the diversity of labor value creation methods. Moreover, it offers practical insights into important issues of digital economy development such as enhancement of the digital literacy of contemporary digital labor subjects, achievement sharing of digital labor development, standardized integration of virtual interfaces of digital labor data with real-world infrastructure, and deep inter-industry collaboration for the realization of digital product value.

27 Global Value Chains and Domestic Income Inequality:Evidence based on Cross-Country Data Hot!
SHENG Bin, HAO Bi-rong
Based on the Eora MRIO database and the SWIID Database, this paper examines the impact of globalization on domestic income inequality in different economies, and shows the following findings through theoretical analysis and empirical testing: Firstly, GVC participation increases the level of a country’s domestic income inequality, and this conclusion is still robust after using different samples and different indicators; Secondly, the elevation of GVC position of a country decrease its level of income inequality, mainly due to the increase in income inequality by the backward participation; Thirdly, the heterogeneity analysis concludes that the participation of developed countries in GVC has a greater impact on domestic income inequality than developing countries; Fourthly, Shapley method shows that domestic institutional factors, human capital construction and biased technological progress are the most important factors affecting income inequality. This paper suggests that in the process of GVC participation, a country should take the initiative to give full play to its domestic policy advantages, optimize its own environment, absorb the dividends released by globalization, while trying to avoid the aggravation of income inequality.

40 column:Measuring and Estimating the Weakness of China’s Total Demand:A Rebuttal to the “Overcapacity” Theory Hot!
YU Miao-jie, ZHANG Chen-ying
In the context of a complex and ever-changing international situation, China’s external demand has experienced significant fluctuations, impacting the stable operation of its macroeconomy. Against this backdrop, a comprehensive analysis of the weakness of China’s total demand is crucial for understanding the dynamic changes in economic operations and policy responses. This article, from a demand-side perspective, estimates China’s potential total demand by using a trade gravity model and assesses the external and internal demand weaknesses from 2007 to 2022 by comparing effective demand. The results indicate that: (1) after 2008, China’s external demand has been persistently weak, but the effective release of domestic potential demand has compensated for this gap, hence the so-called “China’s overcapacity” theory lacks a factual basis; (2) the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 weakened domestic effective demand, leading to a certain degree of overall demand weakness in China. However, with the recovery of domestic economy, the situation will be improved. Therefore, it is essential to continuously convert the potential of domestic and international markets into effective demand, focus on expanding both domestic and external effective demand by boosting consumption, driving investment, and promoting high-level opening up to the outside world.

50 Measurement, Influencing Factors and Economic Effects of Market Integration: Research Review and Prospect Hot!
CHEN Bin-kai, SUO Hao
Market integration aims to promote the smooth flow of commodities and factor resources in a wider range by breaking local protection and market segmentation so as to accelerate the construction of a unified national market. Domestic and foreign scholars have conducted in-depth research on the measurement, influencing factors and economic effects of market integration. By combing through the existing research results, we have the following findings: Price method and gravity model are two widely used measurement methods, and are further developing with the refinement of available data; The influencing factors on factor flow include not only such institutional factors as local protectionism, but also non-institutional factors like spatial geography and dialect culture. With improvements in transport infrastructure significantly enhancing domestic market integration, removing institutional barriers becomes the key to current commodity and factor market reforms. Eliminating local protectionism can create new impetus for China’s economic growth and productivity improvement; In terms of economic effects, existing studies have explored the impact of market integration on enterprises, industries and the overall economy from micro, meso and macro levels. It is suggested that in future research, more diversified and innovative data and measurement should be employed to broaden the scope of research, main factors behind the administrative boundary effect should be discussed thoroughly, the causal effects of existing integration policies should be examined in detail, and the dynamic quantitative spatial equilibrium model should also be combined to study China’s market integration in order to help reveal the complex dynamic mechanism in market integration and provide scientific support for formulating accurate and effective policies.

60 Uncertainty, Supply Chain Finance and Transformation of Processing Trade Enterprises Hot!
WANG Xiao-song, CUI Yu-yang
There has been an increasing trend of finance serving the needs of real economy in recent years. As an important component of manufacturing industry, China’s processing trade enterprises that are undergoing transformation needs the support of innovative financial products. Based on the available data, this paper studies the transformation of processing trade of listed enterprises, and finds that supply chain finance has significantly alleviated the negative impact of trade policy uncertainty on the transformation of these enterprises, and the main regulating channels are alleviating the financing constraints of enterprises and reducing the risks of capital chain and supply chain. Therefore, it is suggested that at present when the negative impact of external uncertainty is gradually increasing, we should pay attention to the role of supply chain finance in promoting the transformation of the processing and manufacturing industry, and give play to the service function of supply chain finance from aspects of both providing capital support and stabilizing and strengthening the supply chain.

78 Value Chain Upgrading Path for Chinese Firms under the Supply Chain Shock: Also on Theoretical Causes and Empirical Analysis of the Heterogeneity of Value Chain Hot!
LV Yue, ZHANG Hao-tian
Ensuring the security and stability of the industrial chain and supply chain is crucial to the high-quality development of China’s economy, therefore a comprehensive identification of the layout characteristics of firms value chain is urgently needed to explore high added-value upgrading path of various industries, so as to realize the strategic design and targeted policy implementation of different industries. This paper constructs a theoretical framework that can be used to study how firms with different value chain position and distribution achieve high added value increase. We use the merged data of the Annual Survey of Industrial Firms and the China Customs Data, and examine the relationship between firms’ position on value chain and the domestic value-added. We have the following findings: First, in general, the value-added of China’s manufacturing industry is reflected more in the upstream key components sector and downstream product marketing, while the added value of the intermediate manufacturing stage is relatively low. Second, the value chain distribution of different industries shows distinct heterogeneity, that is, some subdivided industries present a “smile curve” shape, some a “Musashi curve” and others a monotonous curve, therefore, their respective high added-value upgrading path should be differentiated. Third, the productivity gap and entry cost gap between the firm and its upstream and downstream firms are key to tell the value chain layout of industry. Fourth, firms should choose differentiated value chain upgrading strategies based on the configuration of the industry’s value chain and their own position, and selectively adopt “strength”, “supplement”, “extension”, and “concentration” measures to achieve targeted design of value chain upgrading strategy. Hence, it is crucial to adhere to the principle of “climbing up the both ends of the value chain to gain high added value”, while enhancing the innovation capabilities, emphasizing the manufacturing stages, and implementing targeted policies based on the value chain layout characteristics so as to guide firms in selecting effective upgrading strategies.

HAN Li-ping, CHEN Yue, LI Shi-wei, GAO Yuan-ping
The evolution and upgrading of the logistics industry chain is a vital strategic path to accelerating the integration into the new development dynamic of “dual circulation”, as well as a key link to enhance the overall competitiveness of the economy. This paper, based on relevant data of 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China from 2013 to 2020, constructs the evaluation index system of the evolution level of the logistics industry chain, and then evaluates and analyzes the evolution level of the national logistics industry chain comprehensively using the factor analysis method. The results show that the evolution level of logistics industry chain in each province varies significantly, as are divided roughly into four groups: ultra-high group, high group, middle group and low group. It is suggested that Differentiated logistics industry chain development strategies should be implemented according to the characteristics of each province. To be specific, the ultra-high grouping provinces should focus on improving the international competitiveness of the domestic logistics industry chain; high-group provinces should speed up the transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry with the help of emerging digital technologies; middle-group provinces should, by centering around supply chain innovation, further innovation and upgrading of the logistics industry chain while facilitating the interaction and integration of logistics industry chain with new industries and new business models; while low-group provinces need to fully tap the policy potential of the logistics industry, strengthen the construction of logistics infrastructure, and broaden the geographical scope and market depth of logistics services.

106 Research on Supply Chain Collaboration Mechanism Enabled by Platform Ecosystem ——Hengsheng Group as an example Hot!
SHAN Hong-mei, CHENG Meng-zhen, WANG Xiao-yan, GE Wen-miao, WANG Wu-suo, ZHANG Xia-heng
As an effective carrier of resource integration, platform ecosystem can enhance the absorption of upstream and downstream resources in the supply chain and provide a material basis for supply chain collaboration. Based on the Grounded Theory, this paper explores the mechanism of how platform ecosystem enables supply chain collaboration through a single case study of Hengsheng Group. The findings are as follows: firstly, the construction of enterprise platform ecosystem lays the foundation and conditions for supply chain collaboration; secondly, through collection and marketing, intelligent scheduling, data sharing, industry-university-research integration, and supply chain finance, the platform ecosystem enables the collaboration of business flow, logistics, information flow, technology flow, and capital flow of the supply chain respectively; thirdly, “five-flow collaboration” effectively reduces supply chain transaction costs, improves supply chain operation efficiency, reduces supply chain bullwhip effect, improves supply chain innovation level, and optimizes supply chain capital flow, thereby achieving supply chain synergy. Therefore, it is suggested that enterprises can enhance their competitiveness by facilitating the cooperation of upstream and downstream partners in the supply chain to promote value co-creation by building a platform ecosystem.

116 An Analysis of Industry-University-Research Collaborative Innovation Evolution of High-speed Rail Enterprises from the Perspective of Knowledge Search: A Case Study of CRH380A High-speed Train Head Model Design Hot!
MAN Yong, SONG Jiu-lin, LIU Ying-qi
Promoting in-depth industry-university-research collaboration is an inevitable choice to enhance scientific and technological innovation, as well as an important measure to advance high-quality development of China’s economy. From the perspective of breadth and depth of knowledge search, this paper, by examining the evolution of innovative willingness of industry-university-research collaboration in high-speed rail, constructs a game model of collaboration evolution between high-speed rail enterprises and university-research institutions, it then analyzes the dynamic evolution rhythm of collaboration willingness between enterprises and university-research institutions under varying trends of knowledge search depth and breadth, explores the front-end knowledge search on industry-university-research collaboration in high-speed rail, and dynamically analyzes collaboration evolution mechanism of industrial technological innovation. The results show that the strategy choice for industry-university-research collaboration is strongly influenced by initial technical knowledge reserve and professional knowledge field of enterprises and academic-research institutions; When the breadth of knowledge search of high-speed rail enterprises remains unchanged, the increase of depth of knowledge search can enhance the collaborative and innovative willingness of enterprises and academic-research institutions. But when both the depth and breadth of knowledge search increase, or when the depth of knowledge search decreases while the breadth of knowledge search increases, collaborative innovation willingness of enterprises with academic-research institutions decreases. In order to activate and promote the innovation impetus of high-speed rail enterprises and academic-research institutions, and promote the in-depth industry-university-research collaboration, it is necessary to enhance the ability of knowledge integration, absorption and digestion of enterprises and academic-research institutions.

128 On the Coupling Effect of Investment and Consumption in Railway Passenger Industry Hot!
YAN Ying, YE Shu-jun, LI Hong-chang
In railway equity investment and transportation product consumption process, railway equity investors often integrate with transportation product consumers. It is inferred that the main reasons are that investment can promote consumption through product portfolio effects, price discount effects, and enhanced membership benefits effects, and that consumption can promote investment by reducing information asymmetry effects and increasing investment confidence psychological effects. As a result, it can alleviate the financing constraints of railway transportation enterprises, expand transportation production capacity, improve transportation service quality, and achieve dual promotion of investment returns and consumption utility. This paper therefore proposes a hypothesis on the coupling effect of railway investment and consumption, which integrates individual investment and consumption behaviors into a single framework from a micro perspective. Starting from the individual behavior psychology and preferences of investor consumers, it focuses on the individual as the main body of economic activities. Using the full sample data of investment and consumption in the railway passenger transport industry, an empirical study is conducted on the integrated investment consumer behavior in the railway passenger industry. It reveals the following findings: the proportion of investors with consumption behavior in all investors is significantly higher than the proportion of the people with consumption behavior in the entire society; The consumption amount of integrated investment consumers is significantly higher than that of other consumers, and so does it in different age groups; There is a clear positive correlation between the investment and consumption of integrated investment consumers with an investment quota of over 2000 shares. Therefore, enterprises can bundle investment and consumption incentive policies, enhance the investment and consumption willingness of integrated investment consumers through membership consumption rebates and additional membership benefits.
