On the Decision-making of Closed-loop Supply Chain for Electronic Products Considering Recycling Quality and A Points System

Abstract

The wide application of the new-generation internet technology has spurred continuous upgrades and replacements of electronic products, leading to a surge in the volume of waste electronic products requiring recycling. The key to solving the problem is to enhance the enthusiasm of all parties in the closed-loop supply chain. In the closed-loop supply chain system composed of electronic product manufacturers, online retailers, and third-party online recyclers, a points system is incorporated into the chain. Taking into account the quality of recycled products and its uncertainties, Stackelberg game models under two modes, namely the independent points plan and the points alliance plan, are constructed, and equilibrium solutions and case simulation analyses are carried out. The research shows that regardless of which points plan is adopted, improving the quality of recycled products is conducive to the increase in the overall profit of the supply chain; the points alliance plan is not always superior to the independent points plan. Under the points alliance plan, the overall profit of the supply chain and the profits of all parties are greatly affected by the coefficient of the leverage of points on the demand volume. When the impact of points on the demand volume is low, it is not conducive to the formation of a points alliance. Therefore, all parties in the closed-loop supply chain should actively improve the recycling quality of electronic products in relevant links; online retailers and third-party online recyclers should select a points system that meets the needs of the application scenarios according to their own situations to improve the quality and efficiency of recycling logistics; electronic product manufacturers should actively introduce remanufacturing technologies, reduce the requirements of the remanufacturing threshold for the recycling quality, and enhance the overall efficiency of the closed-loop supply chain.
